Congressman Bright's Statement On Today's Joint-Delegation Water Rights Meeting:

"Today's meeting with members of the Alabama, Florida, and Georgia delegation was both productive and informative. The consensus of the meeting is that the three governors should move quickly and reopen negotiations on a water sharing agreement.

"While I can understand metro Atlanta's need for drinking water, the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River Basin is an invaluable source of both water and power in Southeast Alabama and an adequate supply of water must be maintained throughout the entire system. The Alabama delegation stands united on this issue; Congress should not act until a favorable agreement is reached at the state level. I look forward to working with the Governor and my fellow delegation members to protect the interests of both the people in my district and throughout the State of Alabama."
